2016 Review

I surprised myself with 2016 – happy to report it was a really successful year!

In my 2015 Review post, I went through some of the highlights of that year, as well as some goals for 2016.  I want to take some time and review 2016 now!  Like I said, it was a great year for me, my travelling, the blog, and I’m really looking forward to 2017!

Points Update January 2017

Second post!

If you remember my post from last month, this will become a monthly item on the writing board.  Rather than just updating my Keeping Score page, I want to explain a few things.  You know, why I do what I do.

If I just put numbers in front of you, I’m the only one that’s going to benefit from it.  If I explain those numbers, I hope it helps you a little bit too!

My goal?

I want to get everyone travelling a bit more, and a bit cheaper, too.

Points Update December 2016

Hey everyone!

Remember that Keeping Score page I created a while back?

I totally understand if you don’t remember.  I realized the page wasn’t entirely useful in its current state.  You see, I update it every month.  That’s great for me, I get to see how far I’ve come.  But for somebody just finding this blog, it’s not so helpful.  So you have a lot of points?  Cool.

It’d be a lot more helpful if I explained how to get those, huh?

I’ve decided to write a monthly post, outlining the biggest changes and updates to my portfolio of points and miles.  This will be the inaugural post, and just about every month I’ll write a new update, to coincide with updating the page itself.

Earning Virgin America Miles with AirBnB

I love new partnerships between companies I use!

And although this one isn’t new, it’s great.  AirBnB is a fantastic option for lodging while you’re travelling.  Usually the cost comes in low, and it offers a bit more local flair to your journey.  We’ve used AirBnB in Peru, and then again in Mexico (twice!).  All three times, I’ve been happy with the process, and with our hosts.

If you’re keeping up with travel hacking news, you’ve been able top earn Virgin America points on AirBnB bookings for the past year or so.  Using my recent Mexico bookings, I decided to figure out the process, and a time frame for it.
